The Uneasy Alliance
A group of forest animals including a bear, wolf, fox, and hare gathering in a snowy forest
Deep in the forest, winter had covered the world in a thick blanket of white snow. Food was scarce, and hunger brought enemies together. A marten, a squirrel, a hare, a fox named Michael, a wolf, and a large brown bear decided to form an alliance. They had found a large sack of grain left behind by a traveler and agreed to share it to survive.
But the grain did not last long. Soon, the animals were hungry again. The bear, grumbling with an empty stomach, looked at the smaller animals. Realizing they were in danger, the quick squirrel and the hare quietly slipped away into the trees, leaving the predators behind.
Now only the Fox, the Wolf, and the Bear remained. Michael the Fox, cunning as ever, knew he had to be clever to stay safe. He tricked the wolf into leaving to chase a scent that wasn't there. Now, Michael roamed the forest alone, looking for an easy meal without doing any hard work.
