The Treasure Thief

The Secret Stone

An Egyptian Pharaoh pointing at a pyramid construction

An Egyptian Pharaoh pointing at a pyramid construction

There was once a King in the ancient land of Khem who gathered treasures of gold and precious stones, greater than those of any other King in the world. But the more treasures he collected, the more anxious he became lest thieves should come during the night and steal his precious things.

So he called his Master Builder and commanded him to build a mighty Treasure House of hewn stone. The builder worked night and day, making walls so thick that no man might pick a hole in them. However, the builder was clever. In the thick wall, he made a narrow passage with a loose stone at the end which could be pulled out, yet fitted so perfectly that no one would ever find it unless they knew the secret.

Years passed, and the secret was passed down to the builder's two sons. One night, seeking their fortune, the brothers crept to the pyramid wall, moved the sliding stone, and entered the King's treasury.
